The Rabbit Island resort investment project has begun construction in Kep province

The $130 million Rabbit Island development investment, a multi-resort project on Koh Tonsay island, four kilometers off the coast of Kep province, has begun construction activities, with building materials being moved there.

Try Pheap Group owns the investment project.

The project’s official groundbreaking ceremony took place on September 22, according to Vao Sokha, deputy governor of Kep province. In February 2019, the Cambodian Council for Development granted permission for the investment project.

Five-star hotels, residential and commercial zones

The project’s official groundbreaking ceremony took place on September 22, according to Vao Sokha, deputy governor of Kep province. In February 2019, the Cambodian Council for Development granted permission for the investment project.

The project spans more than 180 hectares and includes five-star hotels, residential and commercial zones, casinos, bungalows, beach sports, public spaces, and transportation such as boats and a cable car.

According to Sokha, the company will only develop 140 hectares, leaving the rest for local residents and the local government administration office.

"Koh Tonsay is a tourism-friendly island. A white sandy beach surrounds the island. This will bring more tourists to the island," he added.

Sokha did not specify a completion date for the project.

The government intends to construct a tourism port on Tonsay to facilitate local and tourist travel.
