The Wonders of Cambodia's Temples: A blog post about how to visit the most secret temples of Cambodia.

In a nutshell

Today is all about the temples!

Breakfast will be provided at your accommodation to start the day. Then, go 55 kilometers outside of Angkor Wat to view Beng Mealea before the tourists gather. This is one of Cambodia’s most fascinating temples. Banteay Srei, widely known as the Lady Temple because of its beautiful carvings, is the next destination. Lunch will be provided at a local restaurant, followed by a trip back to town with excursions at Banteay Kdei and Ta Prohm along the route.

Beng Mealea was erected in a style more evocative of early Buddhist temples, indicating the lasting influence of ancient Indian culture on the Khmer Empire.

What to do there?

Begin your day as early as 7:30 am. Visit Beng Mealea, widely known as the Titanic Temple, a mysterious Angkorian temple. It’s a terrific spot to start your exploration. The temple is roughly 58 kilometers away from Angkor Wat, which preserves it away from the crowd.

The temple was erected in a style more evocative of early Buddhist temples, indicating the lasting influence of ancient Indian culture on the Khmer Empire. Following your tour to Beng Mealea, you will proceed to Banteay Srei, a 10th-century temple filled with some of the most beautifully carved sandstone statues you’ll discover anywhere on earth.

Following that comes Ta Prohm, often known as the “Jungle Temple” because of its natural preservation. Built by King Jayavarman VII as a tribute to his mother, it is extremely remarkable in that, unlike other temples, it was never finished and hence preserves its natural beauty.

After lunch at a local restaurant, you’ll return to town, and on the way, pass through Banteay Kdei, an important Hindu shrine devoted to an austere god signifying purity and morality.

Tour Requirement

This spectacular temple trip needs a valid Angkor Pass, which costs $37 per person. You may buy tickets online before the trip starts; however, your tour guide will help you in obtaining one before viewing the temple.

When is the best time to visit?

The dry season, which lasts from November to March, is the most popular time to visit Angkor Wat. These days are milder and drier, but they are also the busiest, so anticipate crowds. Despite the fact that these are official “winter” months, weather conditions are still rather warm.

Dress Code & What to bring along

Angkor Wat’s dress code restricts revealing garments, such as those that show shoulders, knees, or cleavage. When visiting Angkor Wat, guests should wear cover clothing that covers their shoulders and trousers, or skirts that fall below the knee.

It is advised that you bring robust footwear, a hat, sun lotion, sunglasses, and extra water to prevent dehydration due to the humidity on this trip.
